Clyde and Joanne Peterson started the company in 1962 under the name of Menomonie Disposal Services and ran the company until Douglas Gowland purchased the company in October of 2012. The company name was changed to Menomonie Disposal Systems LLC. All of the past employees stayed to work for Doug with the majority of them still here today. Kathy Arnold was hired on as the general manager as well as Carrie Olson and Clare Reusch as customer care representatives.

Douglas Gowland has been in the trash industry for many years. He started out as a route driver and worked his way up to owning multiple businesses in the trash industry.

Menomonie Disposal is locally managed and employed through Dunn County. All but one of our employees reside in Menomonie and the surrounding towns. We work side by side with the Dunn County Transfer Station as well as the City of Menomonie with recycling services. We have sponsored many of the youth and community programs within Dunn County. We are active members of the Chamber of Commerce as well the Rotary Club and we actively participate in Lions Club and Dunn County fish and game events.

We haul all of our waste and recyclable material to DNR/State approved sites. Our sister company Enviro Services of Wisconsin (ESW) is our drop off site for all DNR approved construction and demolition debris. All other waste is hauled to the Dunn County Transfer Station where the waste is hauled to approved landfills.  We work side by side with Amanda Haffele who is the recycling specialist at the Dunn County Solid Waste. Amanda has helped us teach local business about recycling guidelines and how to increase the use of recyclable materials to keep them out of landfills.
